If you've found your way to my blog, welcome! As a skincare expert, SMP & PMU artist, and studio owner, I am always learning and trying to improve my understanding of products, treatments, and anything having to do with skincare and permanent makeup. I hope that by sharing my knowledge with you I can encourage you to learn and enjoy the process of your own self-care journey.
How it all started
Skincare became a part of my life in my late teens. I, like so many girls, started experimenting with makeup while having no background knowledge on how to properly take care of my skin. I would save my money and buy the foundation that I thought was "my color" before caking it on and believing it looked amazing. Before I knew it, I was at the dermatologist's office begging for a solution to all of the texture and pimples on my cheeks and forehead. "Makeup keeps me in business!" the Dr. said. I was devastated. She gave me a cleanser and sent me on my way. As stubborn as I was (and still am), I began to wonder if I could continue to wear makeup if I washed it all off thoroughly before bed. It wasn't long before my skin cleared up and I realized I could continue wearing my beloved foundation. Who would have known that what would follow this discovery was the start of my lifelong journey to perfecting what is now my evening routine.
A trip to Japan that changed my life
Fast forward to April of 2016: a two-week trip to Japan that stressed my skin out more than any makeup, alcohol, or hormonal changes had EVER done. My skin was so textured that even my boyfriend at the time asked me if there was something wrong. Him noticing was enough for an immediate trip to the best esthetician in Tokyo that I could find. What I learned was that the minerals in Japanese water were so different than what I had been used to, my skin reacted and broke out severely. I began an organic skincare regimen and bought endless amounts of imported bottled water to rinse my face after every shower. My skin cleared up relatively quickly and I was amazed at the difference that water and an effective regimen could make.
My skincare journey has been built off of the aforementioned regimen. Over the past several years things have changed for the better. As I continued to travel the world I experienced the hands of estheticians in different countries with unique techniques, ground-breaking machines and exquisite products that I had never felt nor heard of. I was relieved by milky cleansers, invigorated by superficial peels and exfoliating lotions, and replenished with dreamy masks and creams. What originally felt like expensive and dreadful tasks became the morning and evening rituals that I looked forward to. It didn't hurt that I began to receive consistent compliments on my skin. If I hadn't slept much the night before, I energized myself with active and brightening products that helped start my morning. A stressful day, heartbreak, or the discomfort of being alone in a new city could be washed away with the familiarity of my evening routine. My appreciation for skincare blossomed into what is now my career: a master esthetician and owner of a skincare studio, The Lab, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Words cannot express how grateful I am to all of the people who have supported me on this journey. The list of individuals that have made my career and studio possible would be endless. I am grateful to each and every one of you and hope to share my passion with anyone who is as interested in skincare and permanent makeup as I am. Thank you for reading!
